Governor
Gov. Mitch Daniels was elected governor in 2004 after a distinguished career in private business and public service. He served as the director of the Office of Management and Budget under Pres. Bush from 2001 until 2003, when he returned to Indiana. Although not an Indiana native, Gov. Daniels has been a Hoosier since grade school. His undergraduate degree is from Princeton Univ. and his law degree is from Georgetown Univ. Gov. Daniels is married to Cheri; they have four daughters. Read more about Gov. Daniels.

Indiana General Assembly
The Indiana General Assembly consists of two houses, the House of Representatives with 100 members and the Senate, which has 50 members. The two houses meet every year beginning the Tuesday after the second Monday in January, or in special sessions as called by the governor.
Sen. Timothy D. Skinner (D) represents Terre Haute in the state Senate.

Fifth-generation Hoosier Senator Richard Lugar was elected in 1976 after serving as mayor of Indianapolis. He is the longest-serving U.S. Senator in Indiana history.
